You have to account for the exhaust gas contracting a bit as it loses heat the farther it goes down the pipe. By time it gets to the tips, it occupies less volume than when it came out of the engine. So the size reduction is actually a measure to maintain exhaust velocity to the very end of the pipe, which is typically a good thing for exhaust performance. If you’ve noticed that your car has thick smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe, it may be a sign that your engine needs some attention. Just like you can examine an animal’s stool to get an idea of its health, you can pay attention to the quality of your car’s exhaust to get an idea of what’s going on inside the engine. i just tried it out with individual mode with engine at Sport+ setting and the rest the same as Sport mode and i feel like the exhaust is significantly louder especially in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. i didn’t think sport vs. sport+ would make that much difference. Not sure which MY GLA45 you have, but for the when you switch to S or M mode the exhaust valve comes open and stays open.
